On Friday 30th January 2009, Burry Port Yact Club was the host for a charity night that was in aid of raising money for the Life Support Unit at Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli. The night was organised by a close friend of mine and the families – having lost a recent loved one, it was a form of remembrance and thanks.
The night was headlined by a Meatloaf tribute act, of which was very convincing indeed! Throughout the night raffles and auctions were taking place to raise the most money possible for such a good and credible cause. Signed rugby balls from the Scarlets RFC, Llanelli and golf sessions at the new Machynys Golf Club, Llanelli, were also up for grabs. I got very close to joining in on the bidding for the rugby ball, but as the price rose to the hundred mark, I remembered I was in fact a student! A large turnout really showed a community spirit and believe in the cause.
It was a massive success, raising loads of funds!! Well done Sara!
